Welcome to the Samara Sprouts!
Samara Sprouts are dedicated to improving and demonstrating ecological sustainability in northern

Through the propagation and development of plant protocols for plants such as Juncus effuses (COMMON RUSH), Deschampsia cespitosa (TUFTED HAIRGRASS), Iris douglasiana (DOUGLAS IRIS), Ribes sanguinium (RED-FLOWERING CURRENT), Achillea millifolium (COMMON YARROW), Fregaria chiloensis (BEACH STRAWBERRY), and Vaccinium ovatum (EVRGREE HUCKLEBERRY) Samara Sprouts have familiarized themselves with the ecological and cultural significance of these important native plants. Students have developed planting plans and designed the Stormwater system that they installed as well as calculated the quantity of water from the schools rooftop that can be utilized for enhancing the biological diversity of the schools landscape.
Students are becoming familiar with the importance of our local watersheds and the role native plants play in filtering and slowing down water velocity before entering our groundwater.
Stay tuned for more projects from the SAMARA SPROUTS!
