We are working with Caltrans, US Forest Service, and Karuk tribal community members to restore a Caltrans staging site along the Klamath River near Somes Bar that was used to store landslide spoils for over 30 years. The property has since been cleared of all spoils and regraded to consist of three flat terraces for future tribal use. The goal of this project is to revegetate the property for adoption by the tribal community as a future ceremonial site. Samara Restoration has been working on this project since 2022 and has been working with tribal members to collect culturally significant plants that will suit their future needs and use of the space. So far, over 350 native species have been planted and maintained at the site by our team.
