Lower Little River
We partnered with Pacific Coast Fish Wildlife Wetlands Restoration Association to complete the Lower Little River Off Channel Habitat Improvement Project. This project restored approximately 22 acres of wetland, riparian, and intertidal habitat. Prior to project construction, the floodplain of Little River was limited by a riverbank levee, and tidal exchange was restricted by a tidegate. An unnamed tributary to Little River spans the project area and was confined to a ditch. During project installation, the tide gate was removed, and backwater channels and ponds were excavated to improve fish habitat within the reach of the unnamed tributary. Samara Restoration grew and installed over 18,000 native plants to revegetate 18 acres of the project.
