Wildland Seed Collection
Samara Restoration conducts project-specific seed collections for broadcast seeding and nursery propagation. Our seed collection program promotes genetic and species diversity. One of our primary goals is to collect plant material from site-specific or watershed-bound collection ranges. Since ecotypes vary across elevation and latitude, we recognize the importance of capturing genetic and phenotypic adaptations to promote population-level resilience. Large scale seed collection projects that we’ve completed include over 40 species for RES’s Mendocino coast projects and 40 annual and perennial dune species for the 90-acre Wadulh Dunes restoration project.
