Eureka Salt Marsh Restoration Project

Eureka, CA

In collaboration with SHN Engineering, Samara Restoration has been working since 2011 to restore approximately .5 acres of slat marsh habitat within the Humboldt Bay. To date, work efforts have included the removal of all debris and trash from the site, excavation of the channel, removal of spartina and other non-native vegetation, propagation of native salt marsh species from the site, growing and installation of approximately 3,000 plants, continued eradication of spartina sprouts, and erosion control measures. Samara will continue to manage the site in collaboration with SHN Engineers and Geologists to achieve the target native plant populations that are represented in our nearby reference site.
