Trinidad Rancheria Rain Garden Project
Samara Restoration collaborated with Trinidad Rancheria and SHN Engineering and Geologist to create a rain garden in the entry courtyard of the tribal offices. Prior to installation of the rain garden, the area was flooding during rain events from large roof catchment concentrating into the courtyard area. Samara assisted SHN in the design of the garden which collected rain from the rooftops sending stromwater down beautiful acorn rainchains and into the garden. the garden was engineered to retain the stromwater and overflow into other landscaped areas. The project included native tradiitonal plants and integrated educational plaques that had the traditional Yurok names and uses of the plants. The overall design of the garden symbolized the local rivers and honor traditional plants while also functioning as a stromwater retention system we call a "rain garden".
